As the youngest in my family and only girl my mom had, I was raised knowing the ABC’s of life: Always Be Cute.
When I was growing up my mom would often say, "Each day you are blessed to be able to get up, dress up, show up, and never give up!" I’d hear my grandmother say, "Lord, I am glad I don't look like what I been through."
During uncertain times such as now, the sayings and lessons instilled in me as a young woman remind me to always try to look my best (even on lazy days). For several months now, the world has advised to stay home and self-quarantine. This is uncharted territory for many, but as a self-employed individual working from home for over 15 years (through my business and past Corporate America career), working from home is not new to me.
With that said, my encouragement to you is to create a daily routine during this stay at home time. I know you don’t want to get into a slump or become overly lazy so here’s a few of my top tips for staying productive and looking fabulous during quarantine.
- Create a schedule to start
- Start your day at the same time each day
- Maintain proper hygiene (Take a bath, shower, wash up) and get dressed
- Eat healthy meals and snacks (Foods that boost your energy and immune system)
- Exercise. Even if it’s moderate—Just. Do. Something.
- Join a virtual party or create your own with family and friends (Zoom, FaceTime, etc)
Whether you're forced to stay home or your an essential personnel that leaves for work every day, remember to Always Be Cute (ABC) and stay sassy and classy.
